It Came from Space!

Recently astronauts and scientists aboard the newly refurbished International Space Station* detected a slow moving asteroid within umbilical reach.

It was scheduled to pass by some weeks after its discovery by the stations orbital defence grid.

This left plenty of time to formulate a plan, the object is roughly three meters in diameter (about the size of large car) and is moving incredibly slowly.

The intention was to use reverse thrust from drones to slow the acceleration to zero and spacewalk out to attach tow lines from the station itself, once retrieved they would bring it inside the main hanger that would act as a quarantine area while it was studied. This all worked perfectly and the rock was brought on board, unfortunately that is where things began to fall apart… The scientists began their studies, under the strictest of quarantine procedure.

No one entered the airlock without an enclosed environmental suit, and once the specimens were recovered, they were stored in air tight containers.

Unfortunately some breach of this procedure must have been over looked ass one of the astronauts became infected, he then went on to kill several others on board. All five of the escape pods have been launched, the defence grid has been deactivated and connection with the station has been lost.

Out of the five escape pods launched, one could hold the infected astronaut, and with communications down there is no way to know if it is friend or foe inside.

Four are calculated to land in SPECON control territories and clean up teams have been dispatched to make contact once the pods land, the fifth however is a problem.

It is calculated to land on the Chinese boarder in a forested region in the early hours of Saturday morning, relations between China and America (and by association SPECON) have been in a state of Cold War for the last 18 months since there intervention in Usrekistahn (China being an ally of the former exiled ruler General Saiem).

If the Chinese Government decide not to shoot down the pod (as is legally there right) they will attempt to intercept it on the ground.

If this situation arises your team will be requested to break international law and covertly entre the Country and retrieve our astronauts or destroy the infected creature within.

Once over the boarder you will receive no further assistance from SPECON command, the mission will be in your hand, failure is not an option.
